Great to have Jerry Sander, middle school counselor and author, on today talking about kids and technology. Sure they are far more techno savvy than us - but we do have a job to do and that job is to pay attention, as much as possible, to what is going on. They can get devoured in a world above their head if they are not careful, so talk to them and, as always, pay attention. But you knew that didn’t you.
As informative as the internet can be to a student, it can also be harmful. We all hear the stories about predators on the internet, but your child can also find other harmful information on there which can lead to trouble.
Be aware and listen to the experts who say to keep the computer in a family setting and not in their room, and to pay attention to “computer obsessions.” If they spend way too much time online, it may be a sign for you to watch where they are going.
