Terrific information on today’s show and I thank Daniel Gross for coming on at the top of the hour and letting us know about Speak-Up.
Call 1-866-SPEAK-UP to report a weapon threat at school. If you know about a student carrying a weapon at school, or talking about bringing a weapon to school… If you hear someone threatening violence with a weapon…If you know about someone’s plans to hurt anyone at school…Call 1-866-SPEAK-UP. That’s 1-866-773-2587. Don’t ignore it. Don’t assume it’s a joke. No threat is a joke. Don’t try to solve the problem yourself. Your tip will be transcribed and forwarded to the proper local authorities so the threat can be resolved safely. In case of an immediate emergency, please call 911. Could we be any more overwhelmed and disgusted at the recent school shootings? What is going on here? Copycats? Men looking for recognition to validate their pain by giving others more pain so they can make the headlines and be remembered?Possibly. I think we should stop giving the killer his day of fame. He should be nameless and there shouldn’t be so much attention on his life and rewarding his violence with instant fame. I know, I know. We have a right to know about these guys and certainly it is what journalism is about; reporting what happened and who committed the crime. But are these guys (yes, they are usually men) doing it for the posthumous recognition? I think so and so do many experts.I will have a show on this soon and will post it here. For now, it is something to think about. And please let me know your thoughts on this. I would love to hear from you ~
On Working Moms:
Lauralyn Radlein was very helpful and chock full of information about working from home and the careers that are available, especially through Avon. Many woman are now working from home to be able to spend time with their children, but it often takes a bit of juggling and negotiating with your employer. Some jobs, like at Avon, are designed for working from home, other jobs and careers are often created. If you are planning to propose to your company telecommuting, pick up Elizabeth Wilcox’s book - The Mom Economy, www.themomeconomy.com to learn more.
If you want to know more about working for Avon, please get in touch with Lauralyn Radlein at www.youravon.com/lradlein or call 845-888-4486.
And if you want to learn more or connect with other working from home Moms go to www.hbwn.com (Home Based Working MOthers) for a community network -
and as Lauralyn so eloquently told us: Look Forward and Follow your Dreams! You can make it happen!
