Safety Expert Debra Holtzman

November 28th, 2007

Ready for the holidays? I hope so, but before you go out shopping listen in today to my guest Debra Holtzman, internationally acclaimed Safety Expert and Author (www.thesafetyexpert.com) about what you should know about kids and crowds, foods that might not be safe and toy recalls.

Debra gave some very helpful holiday safety tips today, and one was the reasonably priced watch for kids that has an 110 decibel emergency alarm on it if they get lost or abducted. Go to www.onguardkids.com to learn more about it. And if you want to know the latest recalls in toys, food or anything go to www.recalls.gov to find out.  Hope you had a chance to listen in today as we learned about Holiday safety so we can all be safe and make good choices!

No More Ramen

November 21st, 2007

Nicolas Aretakis has written No More Ramen: the 20-somethings’s real world survival guide (www.nomoreramenonline.com) It is straight talk on jobs, money life and more for those entering the real world. If you watched 60 minutes a few weeks ago and saw the piece on millennials (a new generation word for those born from 1980 to 1995) you know that there is a real difference - and maybe a good one? - on how this generation views the workplace. The question is does it work for them? Listen in today to learn what 20-somethings really need to know to make good choices ~

Elliot Yamin on National Diabetes Day and Baby 411 with Dr. Ari Brown

November 14th, 2007

It is National Diabetes Day and I will talk with Elliot Yamin from American Idol.  Elliot is a great guy and also the Ambassador for Inspired by Diabetes, so listen in and check out www.inspiredbydiabetes.com.

Are you a new Mom? Do you have a zillion questions for your pediatrician? Well listen in today to Dr. Ari Brown, pediatrician and author of Baby 411 (www.baby411.com) as she talks about and answers many questions that new moms - and dads - have. The book is wonderful and so full of helpful and necessary information, I strongly recommend you get it for yourself, a family member or as a baby gift to a new mom. Once a new Mom has this I guarantee she won’t be able to live without it!
So listen in today to Dr. Brown (you may have seen her on The Today Show, Good Morning America or CNN) and what she has to say that will help all of us - Make Good Choices ~

Health Day Talk about Diabetes, Preemies and InfantSee

November 7th, 2007

Elliot Yamin (from American Idol - yes that Elliot!) will talk with me about his new role as Ambassador to Inspired by Diabetes, since this is National Diabetes Month. Elliot has diabetes and he talks about the good and bad ways it has affected his life and what you need to know if you have it. Also there is a wonderful contest at Inspired by Diabetes (www.inspiredbydiabetes.com) that I urge you to particpate in if you, or anyone in your family, has had this disease. It will save many children around the world in countries where they don’t have the same access to medicine as we do here. Go to the website and read about all they do to combat this and download info about the contest, and what you can do to help.

Also joining me today on this health day, will be Dr. Phyllis Dennery from The Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia to talk about preemies and RSV, an important subject. And later in the hour stay with us to learn what you really need to know about comphrehensive vision care when Dr. Andrea Thau from InfantSEE (www.infantsee.org) joins me talk about how important this is for children as young as six months, and that eye checkups at school and the pediatricians office are just not enough for our children.

Listen in today for health tips for you and your family so you can be informed to Make Good Choices!
