Your Tween’s Worries with Dr. Lyness from KidsHealth.org

So you think your child is growing up too fast? Maybe we do, though they don’t think they are. But still, underneath all that grown-up ‘tween veneer’ is your little kid who worries? Worries? About what you may wonder. Well, maybe not what you think they worry about. The opposite sex? Yes, but that is pretty far down on their list of worries. The number one worry is you - their parent. They worry about your health and second on the list? To find that out listen in today so you learn about all the  concerns that your 10-14 year-old worries about. And most important, how you can talk to them - so they really listen to you.

February is Heart Health Awareness Month -and don’t forget Valentine’s Day!

We often hear about men and heart attacks - you know -  a bit overweight, high blood pressure, no exercise, eats junk food and he is a heart attack waiting to happen. But women and heart disease? Not much chance, right? Well that is what I always thought, but I am wrong and so are you if that is what you thought. I don’t know why we are at risk, what that means and what we need to be aware of. Today we will find out. It is Heart Awareness Month and we are having Heart Health Day from 1-2.

Joining me will be cardiologist Dr. Marc Eisenberg from Columbia Eastside in NYC explaining  what we need to know and telling us about Sister-to-Sister, which is a Women’s Heart Health Fair this Friday Feb. 15 at Madison Square Garden hosted by Donna Hanover, Debra Roberts, Emme and others (www.sistertosister.org).
