Politics - Unite and Concur

August 27th, 2008

Politics. It is all around us, especially now. Have you ever had a fight with someone about politics - someone you usually have a good conversation with? Most of us do. Just the mention of politics with otherwise normal adults can provoke an argument similar to road rage. Many of us just throw up our hands and walk away. But then the important political conversations we want to have never get articulated and we are left frustrated.

But there is help - thankfully! Meryl Runion author and Professional Speaker www.speakstrong.com has just come out with a new ebook on how to navigate the Great Political Divide - it is called Unite & Concur (www.uniteandconcur.com).  This book provides ground rules and guidelines in how to keep all political discussions productive and how to minimize hostility so you can discuss politics even with those who are trained to push your buttons (or those you have trained).

Listen in today and learn how you can stop arguing and learn to communicate. Instead Unite & Concur in your politcal discussions and you will know how to make good choices!

Friend or Frenemy?

August 13th, 2008

Did you ever wonder whether a particular friend is really your friend? Is it possible that she a frenemy? A frenemy is a friend disguised as a friend but one who will eventually compete with you and do you in. Sounds yucky right? It is, but think about it - we have all known friends like that. Friendships that underneath the courtesy and politeness are laden with mistrust, unhappiness and oftentimes risk.

How do you spot these friendships? Are there different types of “Frenemy’s?” What can you do when you have one and is an office frenemy different than a personal frenemy? Should you drop them quickly or slowly ignore them?

Well these are questions that my guests today  Andrea Levinthal and Jessica Rozler authors of Friend or Frenemy? A Guide to the Friends You Need and the Ones you Don’t (www.friendorfrenemy.com) will answer for us and explain all we need to know about Frenemy’s. Great subject and great guests that you may have seen on Good Morning America, Tyra or Inside Edition talking about this. Listen in today from 1-2 on WTBQ and learn how protect yourself from bad friends and how to make good choices ~
