Human Trafficking

September 24th, 2008

Human trafficking is not something we think about here, but an estimated 17,500 foreign nationals are trafficked into the US each year. Many of the victims are children forced into the commercial sex trade, others into domestic slave work in the cities and suburbs.

Join me today to learn more about this horrendous crime. Nathan Byrd from Covenant House, a wonderful non- profit , (www.covenanthouse.org) will be explaining more about Human Trafficking and explore some of the realities we should be aware of, and some of the myths. I am very interested in learning about what goes on in our country and throughout the world. Most of you, like me, are so unaware about this. Listen in today so we can learn what we need to know to always make good choices~

CRISIS:40 Stories Revealing The Personal, Social and Religious Pain and Trauma of Growing Up Gay in America

September 19th, 2008

Suicide is the thrid leading cause of death among fifteen to twenty-years-olds and gay teens are four times more likely to attempt suicide than their hetersexual peers. This is alarming and sad. It is not easy being a teen and more difficult being a gay teen. We love our kids but for many parents this is tough to deal with. We need to understand it more and realize how tough it can be for the kids themselves.

Mega successful furniture company owner, Mitchell Gold, (Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Co.) is asking for compassion and understanding for these kids. In his new book CRISIS: 40 Stories Revealing The Personal, Social and Religious Pain and Trauma of Growing Up Gay in America, (www.crisisbook.org), Mr. Gold reveals (more…)

Fox News Anchor E.D. Hill - I’m Not Your Friend, I’m Your Parent

September 3rd, 2008

Fox News anchor E.D. Hill is a busy woman. She is the mother of eight children and just written a terrific new book, I’m Not Your Friend, I’m Your Parent: Helping Your Children Set the Boundaries They Need…and Really Want. In this book E.D challenges parents to reclaim their roles and set boundaries for your kids. This is not a book for the liberal permissive parent - unless you are ready to change and set some strong strict rules for your family.

E.D. states that “If your greatest desire is to be your children’s best friend, if you want a stress-free relationship with your children, if you find it impossible or uncomfortable  to admit that your children will be disobedient, sneaky or deceptive sometimes, don’t read this book.”

This is a must read for all parents. It is an excellent book and one that is needed in our society. E.D talks about manners, allowance, dress codes, dealing with young children tantrums and teen dating. This is a book for every parent who wants to raise courteous, responsible and productive adults. You can go to her website www.hillfriends.com to learn more and order the book. Once you do you will find that you will be making good parenting choices ~
