Education in America & Tribute Song to 9/11

September 10th, 2009

President Obama’s education speech ultimately was not controversial, but inspiring. He talked to students about staying in school, admitted that it is not always easy and explained that if you stay in school, you will find your talents, develop them and be able to use them to make a better life.  He also said,”Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength.”

That is what I am going to do today, I am going to ask questions of my guest educator Cindy Coleman a classroom teacher turned entrepreneur who believes it is time to provide all children with a meaningful and relevant education. We will talk about her ideas and her business www.takeprideadventurelearning.com that helps children get a solid education.

Also we will hear the heartwarming song, The Call, written by Karen Benedetto as a memorial to 9/11. It is beautiful and will give you a moment to stop and think about what we lost and where we are going.

And don’t forget to make good choices ~

HELP - MY KID IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!

September 3rd, 2009

Kids - oh how we love them and how crazy they can drive us! Well, there are methods to their manipulative madness and in Dr. David Swanson’s new book, HELP - MY KID IS DRIVING ME CRAZY! The 17 Ways Kids Manipulate Their Parents and What You Can Do About It, he gives clear and welcome advice about what exactly they are doing and why - and what you can do about it.

If emotional blackmail (you don’t care about me!), irrational logic (why not? I got good grades in school), divide and conquer (Dad said I could) and shutting down (totally ignoring you) are some behaviors you have seen in your child, then you need to listen in today and learn why they do this and what you can do about it. This is a great book from a man who knows what is going on. Go to his websites www.DrDavidSwanson.com or www.TheHealthyChild.INFO to learn more and get a copy of this helpful and essential parenting book so you can really make good choices!
